What's interesting to me is that Amazon fights very hard if it is their items. I have only every gotten one package stolen, and it was Amazon store brand Presto paper towels, a value of ~$30. Because it was Amazon brand, I got transferred three times, they flat out said that for their products they need to investigate. They created a case number and had me call back in a week. Other people I know, and even in this thread talk about how trivial it is for a return. Apparently Amazon only cares about lost packages if they have to actually eat the cost.
