(Don't get me wrong — I think it's a good thing for the world that Musk ended up in America). A better example to make your point would have been Andrew Grove. He had a horrible early life in eastern Europe during the Nazi WW2 era before he made his way to America. And he was one of first employees at Intel, and eventually became CEO. See how that literally ties in with going to "Silicon" valley? :)
