Unfortunately for gnome there is a growing "let it burn" crowd building against them.
Shame KDE is missing the polish it used to have. (I remember kde3).
Don't get me wrong I use kde5 a lot and its recently started getting better faster imo.
At this stage I'm backing KDE apps on lxqt as the best desktop for me.
- md8z 5y agoThat crowd is not new. There are numerous other desktops and they've been around for quite some time. In my view, none of them have ever come close to GNOME or KDE in terms of velocity. Also, it seems that few of them are even trying to provide a comprehensive app platform, or if they are, it consists mostly of repackaged things from GNOME or KDE.
- rob_c 5y agoyes, but recently the gnome devs are effectively handing them pitchforks in the hopes they will go away. The Gnome-DE has made some brutal horrible design decisions _IMO_ in the last few years (more than just the horrible pastel colour scheme). That's not to mention the Gnome-foundation who seem to have split focus as to what their primary goals should be.
