Curious, only 32 of 63 are on the record. Seems like ratio was higher in previous classes. Any ideas why?

- vaksel 15y agomy guess is that people don't want to get lost in a sea of startups. Hard to cut through the noise...especially if something big launches the same day(i.e. mint etc)
- kapilkale 15y ago24/43 were on the record for YCW11, and 22/36 for YCS10. So it goes 66% -> 55% -> 51% this batch. Not sure the reason for the trend, but it is getting harder to sift through this mass of startups. http://allthingsd.com/20110322/meet-y-combinators-latest-class/ http://allthingsd.com/20110322/meet-y-combinators-latest-cla... http://www.xconomy.com/san-francisco/2010/08/25/the-definitive-y-combinator-demo-day-debrief/ http://www.xconomy.com/san-francisco/2010/08/25/the-definiti...
- nostromo 15y agoNow that companies are getting 100k from YC and other incubators (AngelPad) they have a longer runway and more time to get their product right for launch.
- pg 15y agoWe used to have 3 variants of on the record: yes, no, and ok to list as part of roundups (but not to describe in detail). The third category was prone to misunderstanding and abuse so we got rid of it.
