I always said that youtube is too successful and is looking for ways to get rid of users. Peak youtube, as far as pure power for users, was probably the late 2000s. 2016 was when things started to go downhill. We have a lot of problems where our society has been too successful at its technological goal. Inequality, climate change, gun control. All areas where capitalist economics has produced wild success and enormous effort is diverted from other useful goals to control that success.
