Origins of Japanese and Turkish language family traced back 9000 years
- hashmush 5y agoThe Wikipedia article for this proposed language family is quite interesting. The linked article makes no mention of the Transeurasian family not being widely accepted. I wonder if these new findings help the proponents' case. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altaic_languages https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altaic_languages
- cuddlybacon 5y agoNativLang did a video on the Altaic theory. I think 'defunct' is more appropriate than 'not widely accepted'. The accepted explanation for the shared features is a language area. Languages can take features from other nearby languages without needing them to share a common ancestor. [0] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0zkHH6ZOEk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0zkHH6ZOEk
