Yea ~300 miles isn't that much, especially since the range drops while driving uphill.
I believe they are planning a charging network at popular trails and remote locations. This seems like its gonna take atleast 5yrs if not more to become reliable enough to not have range anxiety.
- greedo 5y agoRange drops while driving uphill, when in cold weather, and when using juice for heating. Winter driving is one of the unspoken issues with EVs.
- baq 5y agoTBH my diesel VW bus also has ~25% less range in the winter (especially when doing mostly short trips) and burns fuel like there's no tomorrow when driving uphill.
- greedo 5y agoBut you can refuel it in minutes, and easily carry extra diesel in jerrycans.
- bink 5y agoBy the same token it recharges when going downhill.
- greedo 5y agoIt's still a net negative; there's no perpetual machine inside. Regen braking can only do so much. And if you're towing you're even in worse shape with battery life.
