Vivian's TV Head Costume
- mavhc 5y agoCould you put a whole flat screen display inside the CRT casing instead?
- mr_sturd 5y agoYou could, but you wouldn't be able to see through it. You would also need a bigger battery to power it.
- ushakov 5y agothe title describes exactly what i imagined it look like
- taffronaut 5y agoReminds me of Shobaleader One https://youtu.be/VypU8zojFsY https://youtu.be/VypU8zojFsY
- isoprophlex 5y agoIncredible, I cant believe how good this live version is! Why have I never heard this cover, hot damn, thanks for sharing!
- scoot 5y agoOr Daft Punk?
- acomjean 5y agoClever and fun. I like the diagonal stripping of the led strips to increase density.
- _def 5y agoThis is sooo awesome. Thanks for documenting this project and sharing it!
- vivianrose 5y agoI didn't actually share it here but you're welcome for documenting it at least!
- bloopernova 5y agoThis reminds me: I really need to catch up on the comic "Saga"
- tclancy 5y agoThe good news is now there's a deadline to do so as new issues were announced this month.
- scoot 5y agoThe answer to the density issue is not to use individual strips, but a matrix. You can get them down to at least 2.5mm (1/10") pitch. Of course then you have a different problem - how to see out!
- mattowen_uk 5y agoMatrix's need exponentially more computing power, and current injection every 1000 LEDs or so. I've been looking into a 1m x 2m matrix xmas display for one of my house windows, and have decided to use low density strips to keep the cost and complexity down.
- scoot 5y agoNaturally, but OP specifically wanted higher density – just not necessarily _that_ high.
- vivianrose 5y agoAh, but I like being able to see out without a camera feed or some weird periscope!
- stavros 5y agoThis looks amazing, I love the idea and execution. Well done!
- scoot 5y agoOne thing that isn't explained is how they deal with mapping the animations for the diagonal strips in the second version? I had a quick look at the code, but didn't see anything obvious.
- vivianrose 5y agoHi I'm the author! The zmap variable maps the grid positions of the pixels to their sequential positions. For the diagonal version I just wrote a Python script to generate a diagonal version. I haven't uploaded the Mk. II code anywhere, maybe I should! I should also make a gallery for the three people who made TV heads based on my guide.
- IYasha 5y agoRetro from Dead Leaves ) If only the TV was yellow.
