Unless the person who posted this is the author of the book, I think it's okay. Looks like an interesting book to me, and there's a link in the article to a website with what looks like content from the book, all in a nice, caring "Dear new developer" letter form.
- stavros 5y agoSure, but I'd prefer the link to the site itself, at least. As it is, there's very little content in the link (the book isn't even available yet).
- cstuder 5y agoIt was released last year and is indeed available.
- stavros 5y agoAh, so the post isn't even accurate? I had to click three times (two of which were on the book logo on the sidebar) to actually get to the book itself. Anyway, I'll stop complaining now.
- jasode 5y ago>It was released last year and is indeed available. It's confusing because the url the HN user submitted was dated "August 2, 2020" and it has a future tense sentence: "The book arrives in August. I hope you’ll check it out. Since the book was already released, the better link (which lists the TOC) is probably: https://letterstoanewdeveloper.com/the-book/ https://letterstoanewdeveloper.com/the-book/
- mooreds 5y agoThanks! The link you share is indeed the best one to learn more about the book.
- mooreds 5y agoIt is actually the other way around. The book was drawn from the website. About 10% of the book is new content (not available on the website) and the other 90% was rewritten and reviewed by both copy editors and technical reviewers. Anyway, the website is forever free and is here: https://letterstoanewdeveloper.com/ https://letterstoanewdeveloper.com/ Cheers!
