Reddit Community Points
- PretzelPirate 5y agoIt says the page can’t be found.
- decrypt 5y agoIt loads alright at my end. Wonder if the old reddit link is an issue, but even that redirects me to new reddit just fine.
- josephcsible 5y agoSo instead of, you know, not censoring opposing viewpoints anymore, Reddit is instead just creating some shiny thing on a blockchain?
- avinassh 5y agoIt seems HN changed it to old.reddit.com but it doesn't load. Here is the working link: https://www.reddit.com/community-points https://www.reddit.com/community-points
- sundarurfriend 5y ago> People earn Points by contributing to the community, for example by submitting quality posts and comments. Based on these contributions, the community ultimately decides how many Points each person receives. What does this mean? Is it just that votes get translated into "Community points", or is there some other process by which "the community decides"? Edit: Ok, the Distribution section later describes it. > To propose a change, publish an alternative list and create a poll to have the community approve it. If the poll meets the minimum quorum and passes (by Points), it becomes the official contribution score (except in case of significant bribery). What the ...? It reads like an April fools entry. Unfortunately, we're far from April.
- sundarurfriend 5y agoBy the way, writing it down made me realize that "community points" is only a few steps in semantic space from "social credit". Coincidence, of course.
- warning26 5y agoSo...it's basically a way to put Reddit karma points on the blockchain...which does...something? The value proposition here is really unclear.
