I'd like to expand on your last point. I was trying to sit down and dedicate whole hours to certain things, but I found that it just burned out my attention even faster, and then I could only do two, three hours max before I had to take a break, which of course spirals into a two or three hour break before you realize. This lead me to work more on a pomodoro schedule, where I dedicate 20-40 minutes to one thing, and one thing only. Then I have a three to five minute break, then I start on the next thing. If I don't know what to work on next, then the next work block is to figure out the next couple work blocks. I can work this schedule for about four or five hours, which is enough time to get to lunch, or to take a longer break.
