I am working in Business Intelligence/ reporting and this type of questioning is absolutely amazing to give out to juniors. Not because stakeholders would intentionally obfuscate something from us, but because juniors are doing too many assumptions. Recent example was "we need that person to fill this info manually, because she is communicating with other department". After deep diving with him by similar method, I discovered that opposite is true.
