Replacing Docker Desktop with Multipass, to Avoid Docker Desktop Fees
- tssva 5y agoI'm not sure why the authors have included the sections for Windows installation. The article demonstrates little knowledge of the Windows ecosystem and doesn't provide real actionable instructions for installing on Windows. The article would be better if it limited itself to macOS.
- smackeyacky 5y agoThe instructions for installing debian are shorter than that. If docker is a big part of your deployment strategy, just put developers on linux workstations and leave all the osx and windows fluffery in the past where it belongs.
- paulryanrogers 5y agoOne cannot run Safari or IOS emulators on Linux. And sometimes QA may benefit from their own, local test environment.
- smackeyacky 5y agoI have an OSX VM and an iphone for that. I switched to debian on my main workstation a few months ago and lost nothing, but now work in the same env my software goes to. Android dev is hugely better than windows, .NET core i lost nothing switching to VSCode and i replaced an old mac mini with a VM for iphone work. Its liberating not being chained to windows update or having to own a physical mac.
