I drove my brother’s Landrover recently and amount of cognitive overload and distraction in just getting to change the volume on the touchscreen is so much it almost made me hit the car in front on me on a 25 mph traffic.
On the other hand my Mazda CX-5 has a CarPlay touchscreen as well as knobs and real switched for volume, Nav and phone. It’s orders of magnitude easier to drive.
This whole touchscreen started when the MBAs at automakers started to barge into design rooms under the assumption that the “millennials are attracted to and at home with touchscreens”.
