I don't like git. Fossil is good, but it isn't customizable enough. For example, I would prefer to implement a web interface without CSS and JavaScripts (and perhaps also to be able to expose with gopher and gemini too, and possibly also other protocols), and I would prefer to ensure all functions are available by command-line interface, and I would prefer to deal with and write raw artifacts directly (rather than only use the built-in commands) (maybe it is possible to do this with the sync protocol, but I haven't tried this).
