A Steller's sea eagle that is very lost
- picardo 5y ago> Vagrancy describes when birds veer off-course and continue roving around — potentially indefinitely — in search of others of their kind. It is not uncommon. There are records of albatrosses spending decades living as vagabond singletons in the wrong hemisphere, Dr. Lees said. This paragraph is almost poetic. As a human, I can relate.
- TheGigaChad 5y agoYou are dumber than a pigeon.
- bencollier49 5y agoThe article doesn't say anything about it, but I wonder if this sea eagle could hybridise with any local nearish relatives. On checking, this page suggests that the individual could pair with a Bald Eagle: https://www.aba.org/birding_archive_files/v40n4p28.pdf https://www.aba.org/birding_archive_files/v40n4p28.pdf
- WalterBright 5y ago"spotted the eagle while scanning ducks" I'm curious about this scanning of ducks.
- qzw 5y agoSama’s next cryptocurrency.
- ramraj07 5y agoStripping the “this” in the title is quite misleading. Since Bill Clinton’s code name was eagle (not that you needed to know it, most people would guess “Eagle” without context probably means the president .
- Treblemaker 5y agoI never knew that was Clinton's code name (and I voted in 1988). My first thought was the Apollo 11 landing site got cratered!
- Luc 5y agoApollo 11 lunar module is what I figured.
- saalweachter 5y agoI was hoping to see something about the planned statements and memorials if the moon landing had failed.
- tannhaeuser 5y agoMe too (+ looking forward to the latest conspiracy theory re the suspiciously lost landing footage)
- bregma 5y agoOr maybe a certain old soundstage in east Texas burned down?
- johnchristopher 5y agoIsn't eagle the code name for standing POTUS ? Edit : ah, no https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Service_code_name https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Service_code_name
- skunkworker 5y agoI like the longer title better: "The Stellar's Sea Eagle That Is Very, Very Lost"
- chrischapman 5y agoI wonder what 'lost' means to an eagle. Is it possible that it knows exactly how to get home and it's just on an extended vacation in a foreign land? Oh, to be an eagle.
