Yes a stable prescription is one of the recommendations, mine had been unchanged for about 10 years before LASIK, and hasn't changed in the 18 or so years since then. I'm not big on the idea of touching my eye but the numbing drops are amazing- after I'd had a couple of eyeball pressure tests I got used to the odd sensation of things touching my eyes without me flinching.
