Kissinger's original editorial.

However, in this book report the author does editorialize: "It’s a waste of words so obvious is it, but it requires repeated saying that humans drive all progress. They’re the ultimate resource."
It's striking to me how poorly the US does at education, child welfare, international development, etc. if this were really commonly believed....
- rp1 5y agoThe sentiment that humans are the ultimate resource is commonly believed, but you have to look at it like a business. If you have a factory, then the production line is your ultimate resource. You need to invest in it to increase production later. But you come to a point where you want to retire, so you skip investing and elect to take a dividend instead. That's where the U.S. is now. The capitalist/owner class is taking profits at the expense of the future.
