What the kid wants is to mimic what he sees his parent is doing, and I believe the parent is projecting his own desires and inclinations onto the little one. I do not think there is anything specifically wrong with this though, because that's what learning is about (too screen time as a kid could be an issue regarding myopia and so on, though). But stating that at 3 years the "kid wants" something as specific as running a Linux destop by himself is wrong.
