‘Is this green?’ The fight over solar farms in the Mojave Desert
- ijidak 5y agoThis is why humans will never solve climate change. Thousands of years ago the Bible said humans would "ruin the earth" (Revelation 11:18) [1]. I'm not holding my breath to see humans stop the process. There seems to be no way to go green that won't face opposition. As soon as an idea starts to gain traction, protesters consistently surface. I'm sure if rooftop solar exploded, there would be concern about the loss of roof habitat for insects, bats, birds, or rodents. Or the concerns would mount that birds are getting lost because solar panels are reflecting too much sunlight and creating a giant mirror effect over the city. Point is, it's easy to protest. Much harder to solve real problems. But protesters often play an outsized role in outcomes for even the best technologies and best laid plans. 1. https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/books/revelation/11/#v66011018 https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/books/revela...
