Very interesting article.
This is the first time I hear the plural : ustaath -> usaatatha, I am a native arabic speaker and we always use asaatitha.
Also an old side project of mine, http://yoolki.com http://yoolki.com for en-ar transliteration
- idlewords 15y agoIt's the first time you hear it because I got it wrong - thanks! Fixed now.
- hasenj 15y agoThat's because the 'u' is really not the 'u' but the glottal stop ;) (hamza)
- patrickas 15y agou at the beginning is usually for a glottal stop with a dammah above it ( أُ ) while in this case it should be a fatha ( أَ )
- patrickas 15y agoYou should also fix dukkan -> dukaakiin to become dakaakiin
- idlewords 15y agoFixed. Thanks for these corrections, and please feel free to email me (maciej@ceglowski.com) if there's anything else I've garbled.
