- frockington1 5y agoWouldn't a land-value tax just increase rent? I would increase rent directly proportional to a land-value tax if I were a landlord in the city.
- davidw 5y agoLVT taxes the land. If you have 1 unit on 1 acre... it's going to pay the same amount in taxes as 10 units. So it's an incentive to use the land intensely enough in order to pay less in taxes.
- Gigachad 5y agoWouldn't high density living also explode land value though?. The block of land I live on would be worth $10M+.
- vletal 5y agoSure it would. Yet not to the full extent. The system is complex, not all people rent, not all home owners would be hit by the tax equally, ...
