Is this exactly the kind of behavior that would make self-driving cars safer?
- jeffbee 5y agoIt will be safer but it will also be stopped in one place for a long time, possibly forever. A driver attempting to proceed through an intersection in Manhattan needs to present a credible appearance of being willing to kill someone, otherwise the pedestrians and other cars will just block it in a continuous parade, regardless of the state of the signals. I don't really see how you can program a car to deal with that.
