It is hard to predict how this will pan out from now in Spain. Will they prioritize the big publishers over the smaller independent players and "bloggers". Will they flag smaller news outlets for "misinformation" that later turns out to be true?
- mc32 5y agoThat’s a concern worth looking at. On the one hand traditional media wants to maintain their position of preeminence, so having a viable competitor would presumably add deserved competition to keep them honest. On the other hand, competition from online media would drive a race to the bottom for clicks… And both options are apt to use their power to ‘sway’ their readers/consumers as they see fit. It’s kind of lose-lose for consumers without some legislation governing news… but that’s also a double edged sword ala dictatorship. I’m afraid there is no answer.
