The Long-Run Effects of Agricultural Productivity on Conflict, 1400–1900 [pdf]
- tuatoru 5y agoInteresting paper, thank you! The way things are phrased in the introductory sections makes me think "that's not even wrong", but external knowledge of the history forces me to add "but the assertions are broadly in line with what happened". For instance, asserting that real wages affect conflict ignores the decision-making process and the decision-makers themselves when it comes to initiating conflict. There was so much going on in Europe during this period that I still tend to the "not even wrong" end of things. I'll have to think about this.
