Why facts don't change our minds
- JonathanBuchh 5y agoJonathan Haidt’s The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion is a great book on this topic.
- Cryptonic 5y agoSo that's what Sensei Wu means with "The best way to defeat enemies is by making them your friends."

If you're debugging something, and a fact comes to light that points to a different problem ("oh, that code isn't even being executed") you surely change your mind. If someone tells you they don't believe CO2 causes climate change, but their genuine belief is they they dont agree with a wealth distribution policy you're advocating, they are not going to be swayed by a graph you show them. My point is it's less about related facts, and more about making sure you're addressing the real issue
