Arizona PC Maker says it already owns the Meta name, will sell for $20M
- 1cvmask 5y agoMeta will not be the brand of any of the consumer facing products so I suppose they don't have to buy it. I also remember when Apple came out with the iPhone while Cisco was already selling an iPhone. https://www.cultofmac.com/468635/today-in-apple-history-cisco-iphone-name/ https://www.cultofmac.com/468635/today-in-apple-history-cisc... And they bought the iPad domain from a Hong Kong/China company (Proview) using a shell company. https://chinaipr.com/2012/03/01/the-proview-and-apple-controversy-an-increasingly-tangled-web-11/ https://chinaipr.com/2012/03/01/the-proview-and-apple-contro...
- stevespang 5y agoI agree. The Arizona company has a right to the trademark for selling their computer gear - - - but no right for an all encompassing stretch to include social networks . . . . not to mention the fact that Zuck and co. have the $$$ resources to counter-litigate this little Arizona company into oblivion . . . .
- verdverm 5y agoThey have not been granted the trademark yet, only applied for it. So no, they don't own it
