I want to get my job done! When I have had a drive fail in the past, I boot off my periodic clone drive and keep going. With the no external boot scenario, I have to keep a backup computer rather than a backup drive. I don't travel constantly, just occasionally. I am typically close to my external clone. If I was going to be on extended travel, yes, I would bring the external clone SSD with me.
