The one unfortunate side effect is that sometimes what seems totally innocuous to one person (interjecting, a crass joke, swearing, not talking enough, using the language differently, tough accents) may be interpreted as less desirable to work with even though it’s often just a cultural thing. There are studies which show diverse teams are stronger because they bring in differing view points but I also think that they may end up self selecting for those that are empathetic enough to look through others eyes maybe.
