Most Americans Still Like Facebook, Poll Finds, Not Zuckerberg or New Meta Name
- newaccount2021 5y agoFB gave the Deplorables a voice and the Correct People can't stand it. The Deplorables grunt, groan, tell forbidden jokes and have forbidden opinions...but being Deplorables, they also don't have filters. Had they only attended a prestigious humanities college like brave crusader Frances Haugen, they would know what the Approved Topics and Approved Opinions are
- mikewarot 5y agoI have a number of Facebook friends accumulated over more than a decade, most of which I wouldn't explicitly friend again in a new platform, and many of which I simply couldn't even find... like my friend Michael Smith. Facebook is my only point of contact, as his father (who I was friends with) has passed away. Replacing that deep social graph isn't something I'm sure I could even do on any other platform at this point. So, I ignore all the adds, and use the url suffix that gets me reverse chronological order of posts <question mark>sk=h_chr
- Clubber 5y agoFacebook is the boogie man de jour that the news sells ads against. They're the new Trump now that Trump hysteria isn't profitable. Facebook is not for me but it's fine for most people as long as they know what you are getting into. I'd like to go back to Facebook for the same reason; old high school and college friends that I haven't contacted in years since I left, but I just don't personally feel comfortable using the platform. I deleted my account after the Snowden revelations.
- doublerabbit 5y ago> Facebook is my only point of contact I don't understand why it needs to be your only source of contact. Email, postal letter, telephone all very well exist. Am I missing something?
- mikewarot 5y ago>Am I missing something? Yeah, it would be just plain weird to ask for that contact information after a decade of tacit friendship on Facebook. Not only that, but if I did ask for it, and got it, it would still be wrong before I ever needed to use it. People move and change phone numbers and email addresses quite a bit.
