My curiosity here: Facebook has a problem with keeping users. There are likely many reasons for this such as the toxic environment, privacy issues and even the feed being difficult to find content with.
This seems like something they should be working on if they’re going to bet big on what would be an even more immersive environment.
A real world example: people hate toxic work environments, but they’re often stuck with the job for long periods of time after identifying the problem.
Such is the reality of needing to eat and not be homeless.
But spending my free time in the 3D version of facebook? I don’t care how big the gimmick or how appealing the concept art, that sound like hell to me.

The approach of "who cares about current customers and their experiences, when there are so many people not on the platform already", which leads to quite predictable results. Look at the arrogance of requiring and facebook account to use an oculus, until just recently.
