I've been on a "sabbatical" / gap year for about 5 months now (after ~9 years as a technical writer). I initially planned to take a year off but I'll probably wrap it up when I'm around the 9-month mark. I spent a few months in Brazil, did a lot of reading, got a "social network for book readers" idea to MVP, and just generally recharged my life batteries.
