Amazon Basics products are catching fire (2020)
- nickcw 5y agoIts a full time job for Big Clive tearing these things down and seeing why they might go bang: https://www.youtube.com/c/Bigclive/videos https://www.youtube.com/c/Bigclive/videos I read somewhere that cheap electronics stuff is often CE/FCC approved then the manufactures take half the components out (like the voltage smoothing capacitors) to cut the cost when they go on to mass manufacture.

- BoiledCabbage 5y agoWhile I've never bought their electronics, Amazon Basics have been some of the lowest quality worst purchases I've ever made. I mistook Amazon being in the name as some sort of sell of approval or quality bar. Wow was it the exact opposite. I will never buy another Amazon Basics product again. Everything, fades, wears out, breaks, so much faster. It really seems their approach is get someone to make it look like the top selling product for an online photo, and then give the contract to whoever makes it the cheapest.
- beamatronic 5y agoI’ve had great experiences with AmazonBasics to the point where I’ll often seek out their offerings first.
- randombits0 5y agoDamn, I thought the headline meant they were selling particularly well.
- ffhhj 5y agoNot only that, just search for laser safety glasses, they sell lots of low quality goggles that don't provide any protection, they are burning eyes too.
