If you can handle a HN surge with a low end droplet on Digital Ocean...... this ought to give some sense for the of us using Kubernetes - it is not really needed _most_of the time!
- jrockway 5y agoI run Kubernetes on my low-end Digital Ocean droplet.
- ferdowsi 5y agoI don't understand why this blog post has invited non-sequiturs about Kubernetes. Autoscaling is only one small part of what Kubernetes provides.
- tgv 5y agoWell, I for one have never heard anyone "evangelize" other use cases. Can you name some advantages, or point me to an article? Because I did hear about the set up difficulties...
- wongarsu 5y agoI can only guess that small sites frequently experiencing the hug of death when they get #1 on HN leads some people to believe you need some insane setup, when in reality it's more like this case: it works just fine on a smallish setup as soon as you remember to enable caching.
- cblconfederate 5y agoit usually amazes me to see sites going down because of HN traffic because it is really not that much, in fact barely noticeable in a 10-year old server.
