How much do you give to China / The CCP?
- whaas 5y agoMy startup built a tool that tells you how much of your money goes to China and the CCP. I'm a big fan of "voting with your wallet" and think the world would be better if we all could show what we literally value vs. talking about "values." - 1MachineElf 5y agoThis provides some much needed context. I hope the site will eventually show some examples to mitigate that eerie feeling one gets from services that want access to our emails.
- whaas 5y agoGreat feedback. I wish people knew that we can't read anything besides receipts (and we don't do anything with the data besides give it back to you)!
- tuatoru 5y agoLog in with your google account? To some random weird website? Yeah, no thanks. Pass. How about putting in some "typical" spending patterns as examples?
- whaas 5y agoGIST o-auths with google and is approved by them so not a "random website" - we're based in San Francisco, are privacy-focused, trying to bring awareness to how the things we buy impact the world around them. What do you mean by typical spending patterns?
- sizediterable 5y agoGiven the URL I was thinking that this would be hosted on a service that could run Github gists as single-page-apps. Unsurprisingly something like that actually kind of exists: https://gist.run https://gist.run
- simonblack 5y agoSeeing that China has trillions in reserves, I sense that the piddling little amount that people might give to China/CCP would make negligible difference.
