Sounds like you didn't read the linked thread. Elon proposes donating $6B, which is 2% of his net worth, if the UN can demonstrate (which it claims) that it will solve world hunger. For one thing, Elon is right -- a donation of $6B won't do much for world hunger. As is explained in the thread, hunger is a problem of politics and distribution, not money. Furthermore, losing $6B would not have much effect on Elon's worth at all. Only 2% of it, right? Just the stock market going up and down affects his worth a lot more than that.
