Bezos who is now public enemy #1 in here already had to endure his time on the grill.
Back in the 00s he had to face the music when his company was irrelevant but he was a billionaire (paper net worth, but still a billionaire). Facts proved him right, but he stood his ground in the face of a 96% drop in Amazon stock after the dot-com bust.
Musk has to face the music right now, and rightfully so...because up to now his path to riches was basically aggressively hyping his companies and selling overpriced equity to bigger fools.
More generally one has to be suspicious when there is a big time delay between financial riches for the owners and tangible, practical quality of life improvements for the populace at large which justify said enrichment.
Looking back at American corporate history the legit companies never had to face these problems.
Bill Gates became rich and then concurrently Microsoft became ubiquitous. Same goes for Standard Oil, Westinghouse, Ford, U.S. Steel etc.
Silicon Valley produces these huge delays, and Musk is the king of stretching the delays so much that he's pocketing money for stuff that Tesla would deliver in 2063
