Every country had a Propaganda Ministry during WW2. The concept is neither novel nor a sure sign of dystopia. Of course the concept is most closely associated with Orwell, but it is not unheard of for even democracies to arbitrate the truth.
- lovecg 5y agoWhat dystopian doomsayers get wrong is the axiom that things must always get worse. In reality the pendulum tends to swing. WW1 was a horrible period for free speech in the US, but this was relaxed over the following decades.
