What a shortsighted view. So because one generation already got what it wanted, the following one is to be screwed? You're lucky that it was your generation that decided to ruin it for everyone. Had it been the one before you, you would have been in an entirely different position.

As a recent grad in the 90s I wanted to live in Manhattan. I searched for a few years but was never able to find anything I could afford. Was I screwed out of home ownership? For my then-dream of living in Manhattan, yes. But in absolute terms no. I gave up and moved to California which was then cheap and bought here. The bay area has now become manhattanized in cost, so it's tough for a recent grad today but there are cheap areas today just like California was the cheap area back then for me.
