I also remember the x2 56k technology where the modem could support two phone lines simultaneously. I wanted one so badly.
- toast0 5y agox2 and KFlex were both pre-standard single like 56k modulations; v.90 was the resulting standard and most x2 or KFlex modems could be upgraded to that. Bonding two modems (or a modem with internal bonding) should have a different name to avoid confusion. But maybe didn't.
