In America, the size of the median home has increased from under 1,500 square feet in 1973 to over 2,400 square feet today, an increase of 60%. Perhaps that has some impact on the increase in home prices?
- danans 5y agoThe size of a house is a secondary factor in the price. The single biggest factor is simply location. The largest price run up has been in cosmopolitan urban locations that are thriving economic and cultural centers, where the size of homes tends to skew smaller, not larger. Also remember that most recently built large houses became larger in part by reducing the quality of construction. The 1990s through 2010s were infamous for that type of construction.
