Weird example. That Gryphon ride is slower than taking the tram, or at least it used to be. The advantage of the Gryphon ride is that it was automatic.

  I remember those arguments and races - and it all fell aside when people just hearthstones you Dalaran which was faster than both.

    Don't forget Shattrath. The OG portal-hub town, though the run from Inn to Portal room was pretty bad until you could fly.
