Seriously, actually read the article and the paper rather than doing the ol' HN comment analysis. You'll see that they're very different. The article suggests that alternative digital media use alone discourages political interest, but it is in fact both high alternative digital media use and mainstream media use. The article highlights but one aspect of the multifacted paper, and misinterprets it. Seizing upon a pretty common expression of frustration and imputing mental health issues, then recommending fucking YouTube of all things, is an interesting move. In these unprecedented times, I think it's in even poorer taste than it usually would be.
