Tell HN: Framework should build a VR headset
The framework laptop (https://frame.work/) is awesome
The same concept, when applied to VR headsets, would help to prevent Facebook or other companies from taking a proprietary hold over VR tech
- krapp 5y agoNo it wouldn't. This laptop costs more than twice as much as a retail laptop, and the last thing VR needs is to be even more expensive.
- jeddy3 5y ago> This laptop costs more than twice as much as a retail laptop Framework VR headsets aside, this is such a misguided statement. It does absolutely not cost twice as much as an equivalent laptop. It's the same argument often used for Apple laptops. Other people are prepared to pay for things that you are not. When you add those things, price increase.
- d--b 5y agoVR headsets need to be the lightest and smallest as possible. This is somewhat incompatible with the kind of modularity that framework can provide on a laptop.
