https://meta.com https://meta.com is live as well.
...I can't tell if it's intentional that the page loads initially with the "facebook" brand in the uppper left and then quickly overwrites it with meta.
- yellow_lead 5y agoThe keynote video redirecting to a Facebook login screen is hilarious.
- ZephyrBlu 5y agoWhy? The keynote video is on Facebook, that's why it would be redirecting you to a login screen.
- quartz 5y agoI guess at least partially because part of the rebrand was supposed to be that you won't need a facebook account anymore to do meta things so gating the video is a little off-brand now.
- jobigoud 5y agoYou don't need a facebook account to access many pages on their website, like public groups. The video could've been public.
- dstick 5y agoSomeone got to add "Advanced JS" to their resume!
- dang 5y agoPlease don't do this. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- distrill 5y agoIt's definitely intentional
- babyshake 5y agoIt is strange that it doesn't use any type of animated transition so it does look like a typical FOUC issue even though it probably isn't.
- Jensson 5y agoIt is good design, now it looks like a mistake so people react and talk about it rather than just ignore it.
- blsapologist42 5y agoIf it was intentional shouldn't it have some kind of fade animation?
- lwansbrough 5y agoIt's definitely not intentional. If it was intentional it would be animated, and there's no indication in the HTML that it's anything more than a FOUC.
- specialp 5y agoMeta has been live for a while as a Chan-Zuckerberg foundation project in open publishing. It is crazy they hijacked it for the corporation!
- ButterWashed 5y agoI'd say it's intentional, it highlights the transitional journey from one brand to another.
- Unai 5y ago>Our Actions: Promoting Safety and Expression, Protecting Privacy and Security, Preparing for Elections, Responding to COVID-19 What a joke. Is there a more bluntly obvious PR than inverting everything you're being criticized for?
- nazgulnarsil 5y agoIt disabled my fucking back button. What a perfect encapsulation of what they are about.
- Oddskar 5y agoThere can be no going backwards. Only forward!
- lewisj489 5y agoYou sure this isn't from FireFox Facebook container?
- nazgulnarsil 5y agoah yeah, looks like it was that. I never would have noticed.
- exdsq 5y agoDoesn't even load properly for me, page is unresponsive
- quickthrower2 5y agoThat page just gives me such a black mirror vibe.
