I feel like these sorts of posts suck air away from actual real criticisms of the company and its products. It makes some types of people look like they have a vendetta rather than legitimate concerns, at worst it looks like apple click-bait.
The worst case scenario is the result of the developer not using the menu bar APIs - instead they arbitrarily place its UI elements in a screen location to make them look like they’re part of the menu bar: low and behold the shitty hack finally blew up (although there were always problems with this approach: such as it not playing along with rearranging menu bar items.)
The other issue described exists regardless if there is a notch or not and has always been made worse by scaling the UI up. While the notch certainly exacerbates the limited space issue for long menu bars, there is literally a handful of ways to deal with it permanently even before developers release patches to work with the notch. All of the small laptops (with or without the notch) have this “issue”.
Both of these issues were things the developer wouldn’t have known about prior, simultaneously Apple provided a work around for apps that don’t address it until said apps update.
Seems like a lot of fuss over nothing.
