Ransomware gang says it targeted National Rifle Association
- oblib 5y ago"NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said on Twitter that the NRA “does not discuss matters relating to its physical or electronic security” and takes “extraordinary measures” to protect its information." I'm guessing they paid the ransom.
- aaron695 5y ago> I'm guessing they paid the ransom. Maybe. All their files are offline on Griefs website, so seems so - http://griefcameifmv4hfr3auozmovz5yi6m3h3dwbuqw7baomfxoxz4qteid.onion/details/approach-5a8f1ba17711dbbf82dbb877e6be6b7a http://griefcameifmv4hfr3auozmovz5yi6m3h3dwbuqw7baomfxoxz4qt... Nice website. Very C64? Space Quest? Hard to pick the style.
- silexia 5y agoWe need laws preventing companies from paying these ransoms. That is one of the best ways to stop these attacks... Remove the motivation.
- mbg721 5y agoLaws don't remove the motivation, they just create an incentive to do the opposite. That's fine if you just want a company to fear punishment, but you quickly get to the point where compliance is an expensive exercise in finding loopholes.
