Nikon Unveils the Z9: 45.7MP, 120FPS, 8K, and No Mechanical Shutter
- rektide 5y ago$4500 is $2000 less than the equivalent-ish Sony A1, not bad! Love to see it. Notably this camera appears to be fricking huge, a brick house of a camera. The A1 just looks like yet another Sony A series, like a slightly large-ish film camera. I'm also curious about the electronic shutter. Sony's flagship camera the a9 (2017) was a pioneer of being mechanical-shutter-free. But the A9 II (2020) added it back but is by default off. Given that this camera is for high-motion sports use, among other things, it's cool that an electronic shutter / fast read out is supposedly good enough for the high speeds needed. Still, I'm very curious what circumstances lead to Sony re-adding the mechanical shutter.
