There are Indo-European speakers living in Xinjiang right now (Tajiks), and there were Indo-European speakers there 3000 years ago. It's not far-fetched to imagine a Western Eurasian connection. The Eurasian steppe goes practically uninterrupted from Hungary to Manchuria, and it's a great big horse highway.
