Respected American Journalists Ask If Google Search Is Degrading
- quitit 5y agoPersonal anecdote: all major search engines seem to have lost the ability to find esoteric content and terms are now dominated by popular events. I only chalk up this partly to ‘helpful’ AI (millions of others are looking for this, so maybe this is actually what you meant. - A bit like how autocorrect will sometimes change your correctly spelled words to alternatives.) I suspect it’s also partly due to the great [online] pivot during covid. There is arguably a large change in how we use the web since covid (work from home, isolated boredom, etc.) and that might have had a training effect on the algorithms.
- no_time 5y agoThe most obvious change maybe is that they completely ruined it when searching for warez. I'm glad Yandex exists for this reason.
